Sparkling Stripes Nails

Today’s nails are super simple, but oh so pretty. There wasn’t much of any inspiration behind them. I was actually in search of a different polish when I went to the store, but as I assumed- it was gone. But you know what they say: “If you can’t find what you’re looking for when you go to the beauty store, then buy something else you like, but didn’t have the intention on buying in the first place”… or something like that :)

Needless to say I did not leave empty handed. I welcomed a new nail buffer and Seche – Collage Overlay when I got home. It was a pleasant surprise to find Collage Overlay, though; I think it was a limited edition polish a few months ago?

I didn’t really know what I wanted to do with my nails, but I did know I wanted to try out my new polish, so I just applied three coats of Rimmel London – Magnetise, and then applied one coat of Seche – Collage Overlay. I did have to pick out most of the white glitters, however.

To trick myself into thinking I was all artsy and creative that day, I created an accent nail, using Orly – Au Champagne as my base, then made one stroke of Sally Girl – Sparkle down the center of my nail. I then used a silver Stripe Rite striper to outline Sparkle. To add even more sparkle, I placed a colourful crystal rhinestone from Born Pretty near my cuticle.

These nails bubbled a little bit because I am impatient and don’t know how to let layers of polish dry. It’s not super noticeable though, so I kept them on until I noticed a chip.

Thanks for reading!! Are you guilty of buying polish you were not in search for?

Ziggy Nail Art

Today’s post is pretty special. Today is my mom’s birthday, and I NEVER know what to get her. She’s one of those people that if you ask what she wants, she’ll tell you that she doesn’t want or need anything. I do believe I nailed it this year, though. If there’s one thing I know she loves, it’s our dog, Ziggy. I decided to buy a canvas and some child safe (dog safe) finger paints, and let Ziggy take care of the rest.

That painting and the little artist was the inspiration for my nails.

I attempted to recreate his masterpiece by painting all of my nails white, then diluted some polish and went at it with a detail brush. The polishes used include: NYC – French White Tip, Finger Paints – Scenery Greenery, Pure Ice – French Kiss, Sinful Colors – Unicorn, Sinful Colors – Boogie Nights, and Wet N Wild – Black Crème. To recreate the matte effect of a canvas, I topped my non-accent nails off with two coats of Hard Candy – Matte-ly In Love (this polish is kind of streaky).

For my ring finger, I used NYC – French White Tip as my base, and then I used acrylic paint for his face.

This is the picture I used for reference (and yes- he does always have his tongue sticking out! haha!:

It wasn’t until now did I realize why I had taken this photo- For cosmetology, we had to create a portfolio, and one of the requirements was that we needed a “creative hair colour.” My friend that offered to let me temporarily colour his hair bailed on me, so my mom let me do hers. As a joke, I also put this photo of Ziggy in there too and labeled it “creative fur colour.” My teacher had a good laugh! And before anyone goes and says I abuse animals, just know that I don’t. He was/is perfectly fine :)

This was his work of art:

My mom didn’t expect me to get her anything, so she was stunned when I pulled out a wrapped box. She gave me a disapproving look, saying I shouldn’t have gotten her anything, but once she opened it, she was delighted. She loves it, and the only complaint she has is it’s too small. haha! She thinks it would make a great wall mural. haha!

Third In Line Nail Art

It’s a boy! The third in line is a boy!

I'm not one of those people that held onto my seat every second while Kate was in the hospital, but I do think the birth of her son is worthy of some nail art.

I had an idea in mind of what I wanted the flag to look like- I wanted a baby blue background, but I actually do not own any true baby blue polishes! I worked with what I had, though.

DSCN2951

For my ring finger I used a base of China Glaze – Electric Beat, then used a white Stripe Rite striper and a striping brush dipped in a red Lacura Polish to create the Image of a flag.

For the rest of my nails I used a base of OPI – So Many Clowns…So Little Time. For my pinky, middle, and thumb nails I used two coats of OPI – Which Is Witch?. For my index finger created a dot gradient (can we call it that?) using China Glaze – Electric Beat, my red Lacura polish, Julie G – My Private Palace, L.A. Colors – Live, Sinful Colors – All About You, and Orly – Au Champagne.

Snapchat Nail Art

Today I bring you Snapchat nails!! I was really excited to do them and hopefully you’re all excited to see them! If you use Snapchat I’m sure you’ll like them!
DSCN2934
For my index finger I used a base of Julie G – Dream in Pretty, and used a white Art Club striper to make the camera image, then used a dotting tool to create the lens. For my ring finger, I used a base of Sally Hansen – Mellow Yellow, and a black Stripe Rite striper to create the outline of the Snapchat mascot, then filled it in with the white Art Club striper. for my middle and pinky fingers, I used a base of New York Color – French White Tip, then used a red Lacura  polish and detail brush to make the arrow and box.

Metallic Strokes Nail Art

Once again, I have let blogging slip away from me. Not cool. I know.
These nails are actually from two weeks ago. I have a lot of catching up to do…
DSCN2862
For my base, I believe I used Rimmel London – French Rose, and then used the entire Mirror Metallics collection by Essie to create the brushstrokes.
DSCN2860
I really like these nails because they are so delicate and neutral. They were also super easy to create (However, not so easy to capture in a photo).

Thanks for reading and looking as always !
Have a SPECTACULAR day!

Mint Manis For Talia Joy

Today the nail polish community has come together to remember, honor, and celebrate the beautiful Talia Joy. Earlier this week, Nicole over at Nail Polish Wars posted how she wanted us all to post our mint manis for Talia on Friday. I knew I had to join, and here’s what I came up with:
DSCN2900
DSCN2892
I used Essie – Mint Candy Apple for all of my nails with the exception of my ring fingers. For my ring finger, I used a base colour of OPI – Elephantastic Pink, then used Art Club – White to fill in half of my nail white. I then used Art Club –Black to create a leopard print on the pink side and a zebra print on the white side. I then used square studs (alternating from square to diamond) to line the border between the two sides.
DSCN2894
I chose to create the animal print accent because her last instagram picture was her mint mani taken on a background of zebra print. I chose studs because I remember seeing her with studs on her stiletto nails.

On the day of Talia’s passing, her sister, Mattia, posted a video saying how Talia wanted her name to live on forever, and I know that will be true… Look at all of us that came together to simply post our mint manicures!
Thanks for reading, and if you have time today, I encourage you to post your mint mani and add it to the collection!
